Thu, August 10, 2006 - 8:07 AMI was in Tzfat (Tsfat, Sefad, Safed, Tzefat, Tsefat... many other spellings for all I know) from June 1 until mid-July. I would still be in Tzfat, but I'm allergic to Hezbollah-fired ketyushas (or probably any other form, for that matter) and didn't want to spend the rest of the summer bouncing in and out of a bomb shelter, so I've relocated to Jerusalem. I've traveled around, too--fortunately did some interesting things in the north before the violence erupted. Check my blog and photo album here on Tribe for more info and for pix.

Mon, August 7, 2006 - 7:01 AMWell, we got the leaves swept out of the booth Sunday and everything in the storage shed dusted off/wiped down. Killed three wasp nests (one sting), got the canvas roof up, and I filled in the hole under the bricks where the ground squirrels have been undermining the floor again. Next weekend it's schlepping a few things out that we don't store there during the year, putting the shade fly up out back, hanging the shop sign and a few other details.

I also heard directly from a "very close" source, who says the lease expires AFTER the 2007 season, but that "they" are constantly negotiating to do somthing. The only problem, a I see it, is that the quarry stilll wants the rock BENEATH the festival site. It's all business.
As for me, I have decided to NOT be out there this year. I was offered a contract, but decided to not pursue it this year.

Many things have changed. front gate show comes from a different direction now. Val tennis has changed some of thier jokes and many new performers.
